WINTER INDOOR BASEBALL TRAINING

After years of renting buildings Red Lion Recreation has built its own baseball/softball training building.

This new building is called the “Bowers Pavilion”,
which was built using money that was donated several years ago from the Estate of Dorothy Bowers.
It is located at Nitchkey Field, where the basketball courts were located.

There are several intended uses for this building:

1 – indoor (winter) baseball, softball batting cages
2 – spring/summer batting cages to replace and improve the old cages
3 – camps and clinics
4 – open pavilion area to view ball games
5 – team rental area
6- private instruction

Red Lion Recreation is offering an indoor (winter) baseball training program.
We will have pitching machines, live pitching, hitting instruction.
Coaches will be on hand to help, and a small area to work on fielding.

The purpose of this program is not to take the kids away from other sports.
They should play basketball or wrestle or be involved in other activities this time of the year.
The purpose of this program is to help improve baseball skills in the off-season.
If the kids have an extra hour or two each week, and would like to try to improve their baseball skills, this is a great opportunity.

The building will be available as follows:

Tuesdays (6:00-8:00)
Thursdays (6:00-8:00)
Saturdays (2:00-4:00)

Other times are available by appointment.

All participants must obtain a “practice card” by stopping at the Recreation Office during open hours.
The program is scheduled to run from January 9 through the beginning of March.

Fees are $50.00 for Red Lion Borough residents and $60.00 for non-residents.
This gets you unlimited usage for the winter season.

If you have any questions, call 244-6896 or check out: www.eteamz.com/redlionrec

Thank you,
Mike Zelger – Red Lion Recreation Director

Teams will be selected during the last week in March.
Around the middle of April, all children should be put on teams, and know who their coach will be
and what nights they will practice and what nights their games will be.
Games will normally be scheduled two evenings per week.
Also, for the 8-10 and possibly the 11-13 age group there may be some Saturday games.

For most teams there will be playoffs that should be completed by the middle of July.
