MAIN STREET WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECT
8/5/10 Update:
There will be water main replacement on North and South Main Street. The work
is expected to be completed by September 30th so the North Main
Street portion of the project can be paved this fall. Your water service
should not be interrupted during the project unless some unanticipated
misfortune arises. Naturally, when your service line is being connected to the
new main, you will not have water service. This usually takes approximately one
hour to do. The contractor will notify you in advance when this is being done.
As stated before, any house or building connection will be replaced with a new
copper service line from the main to the curb line. This will be at the expense
of the Red Lion Municipal Authority.
Those of you with lead house connection piping may wish to consider replacing
it with copper tubing. Replacement of lead house connections will not be
required unless they are found to be leaking or deteriorated. Those with
galvanized house connection lines will be required to replace with
copper tubing. Galvanized piping, due to age, has been found to be leaking or in
a severely deteriorated condition making it impossible to reconnect to the new
service line. We have also been asked as to the cost of installing a copper line
from the curb box to the meter. Each house is a unique situation and would be
best answered by contacting a plumber and getting an estimate from them.
If you have any further questions concerning the water system portion of this
project or your house connection, please contact Keith Kahwajy at 717-244-3475.
